Historical evidence shows that stamps were one of the most important inventions of the 19th century, paving the way for "mass communication" as a cheap way to send letters upfront. These square pieces of paper are like microcosm of everything, capturing the major events, history and culture of a country/region. Stamps record history as well as depict everyday life. Stamps are one of the hottest collectibles in world history.

The collection of stamps and related materials from Singapore and other countries/regions can be traced back to the 1830s. Through a rich and interactive exhibition, stamps are like miniature art creations, opening Windows into the myriad landscapes of Singapore and the world, reflecting all aspects of history, culture, science and technology.

At the Forever Pavilion, you'll see the world's first stamp, as well as some of the finest and most comprehensive stamp collections in early Singapore from the 1830s to the post-independence period. Special treasures include the world's only known complete set of 1854 Indian stamps used during the Straits Settlements.

Outside the historic colonial building stands the only working post box left from Singapore's colonial period. There is also a sub-post office where you can buy stamps and send your letters. You can also get your own personalized stamps at the philatelic hall.

It's an experience that makes you want to pick up a pen and paper and write to your friends and family.
